Panama - Lyne Lefort

Lyne Lefort and director Simon C. Vaillancourt bring Panama to the screen in a film that goes far beyond the famous canal. This small isthmus connecting North and South America between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans is shown to be a land of striking contrasts — gleaming Panama City skyscrapers alongside indigenous communities deep in the Darién jungle.

The film highlights Panama's rich biodiversity: sloths, toucans and monkeys are constant companions. Equally compelling are encounters with the country's diverse indigenous peoples — including the Ngöbe-Buglé, Kuna and Emberá — whose traditions and ways of life remain closely connected to the natural world.

Lyne Lefort is an actress, screenwriter and television assistant director known for her adventurous spirit and work on the Quebec outdoor series Van Aventure and Les crinqués on the Évasion channel. Simon C. Vaillancourt is a documentary filmmaker, advanced drone pilot and director of photography whose credits include the series Nordicité, Van Aventure and Humanima, as well as the documentary Voler sa vie. Together they have made five travel films, including À la conquête de l'Italie, Bali aujourd'hui and Panama : Mille et un visages.
