Voyage voyage is a contemporary comedy of manners written by Gabrielle Chapdelaine and directed by Louis-Karl Tremblay. It loosely draws on Goldoni's villeggiatura trilogy from 1761, and follows Chapdelaine's acclaimed reworking of Balzac's Le faiseur.
Philippe cannot really afford a holiday but goes anyway, settling into an Italian villa in Liguria with a few relatives and friends and determined to keep up the illusion. His daughter Jacinthe is caught between two suitors, the lawyer Léo and the terrace-reading Guillaume. Meanwhile, back in Montreal, the group's accountant Frédéric casts a bitter shadow over their Aperol Spritz.
The play looks ironically at a cheerful but indebted bourgeoisie that clings to appearances despite economic, emotional and ecological fatigue. The trip, far from freeing them, exposes what no longer holds together.
The cast is Élodie Bégin, Zoé Boudou, Lula Brouillette-Lucien, Frédéric Charbonneau, Thomas Derasp-Verge, Jean-Christophe Leblanc, Didier Lucien, Bruno Marcil and Marie-Hélène Thibault. Performances are at 16:00 in the Salle Denise-Pelletier.
