Temps de cochon is a documentary theatre stand-up show four years in the making. Written and performed by Justin Laramée alongside collaborator Benoît Côté, it investigates the pork production industry in Quebec, sparked by the April 2023 closure of Olymel's slaughterhouse in Vallée-Jonction — the largest pork slaughterhouse in the province — which cost over 900 workers their jobs with no prior warning.
The show traces a wave of bankruptcies, corporate restructuring, and human hardship that has shaken Quebec's second-largest agricultural sector. Laramée interrogates the province's agri-food export policies, the integration of livestock farmers, and questions of monopoly, asking at what point the cooperative model became a corporate machine and whether the social safety net has become a cage.
Laramée is known for his agricultural investigations: his previous show Run de lait, exploring the dairy sector, won the Critics' Prize for best show in 2022, and he created the podcast Front de bœuf on the beef industry for Radio-Canada's OHdio platform (NUMIX Award finalist 2026).
