Palau Blau Grana is an indoor arena in Sant Joan Despรญ, a municipality just outside Barcelona in Catalonia. It is the home venue for FC Barcelona's basketball and handball teams, and it forms part of the club's wider sports complex.
What a visit offers
For many visitors, the appeal is seeing top-level indoor sport up close. The arena is a place where the club's basketball and handball teams play, so a match day is the most direct way to experience the venue. Crowds at club fixtures tend to bring a lively, local atmosphere, with the energy of supporters who follow these teams closely.
- Sport: basketball and handball, the two disciplines played by FC Barcelona's teams here.
- Setting: part of the club's sports complex, so the venue sits within a wider facility rather than standing alone.
- Atmosphere: a local, community feel, quite different from the larger stadiums in central Barcelona.
Getting there and what's nearby
The arena is outside the city proper, so it suits a visitor who is already planning a day beyond Barcelona's central streets. Sant Joan Despรญ is a short distance from the city, which makes it a practical addition to an itinerary built around the capital. Visitors interested in the wider area can combine a trip here with time in Barcelona itself, where the city's museums, neighbourhoods and food scene are easy to reach.
Before travelling, check the club's schedule for fixtures, as the arena's calendar follows the teams' competitions. A match is the clearest reason to make the journey, and it gives the visit a clear focus.
