La Famille LeBlanc is a family group originating from New Brunswick, at the heart of Acadie. The ensemble โ parents and their three daughters โ interprets 19th-century Acadian and Celtic traditional airs, including musical treasures little known outside their cultural sphere, with connections to Irish, Scottish and Breton traditions.
The three daughters play concertina, whistle and violin, and also compose original pieces in dialogue with the tradition. Their mother lends her voice to the oldest Acadian ballads, interweaving with her daughters' voices in rich, sensitive harmonies across the generations. The father, a multi-instrumentalist, accompanies on piano with arrangements blending baroque, jazz and traditional music, and also plays violin in the Acadian style โ the fruit of over twenty years spent collecting the finest traditional airs across Acadie.
These musical traditions have flowed through the family for more than seven generations, and the performance is both a celebration of cultural memory and an invitation to dance, listen and connect across generations and cultures.
