The young French jazz trombonist and vocalist Robinson Khoury makes his Danish debut in an evening of brand-new music written especially for the DR Big Band and arranged by conductor Jochen Neuffer.
Khoury has been praised by a leading French jazz magazine as touching 'the sublime' and described by the newspaper Libération as 'an extremely gifted musician'. His art draws on world music, classical influences, jazz grooves, improvisation and his own Lebanese heritage.
At the centre of the evening is Khoury's virtuosic and visionary trombone playing, complemented by his soft and expressive voice, which moves freely between song, pure sound and atmosphere. Together with the DR Big Band's powerful sound and Jochen Neuffer's sharp arrangements, the concert promises an open-ended, spontaneous encounter with one of Europe's most exciting young jazz artists.
