Djata: Conversations du Manden is a dance creation by Aly Keita of Kira Arts, drawing on the Mandinka epic โ a founding narrative of West African oral tradition dating back to the 13th century. The work explores the intersections of memory, identity and cultural heritage from personal, communal and societal perspectives.
For Aly Keita, this piece is a journey of reclaiming and reconnecting with his roots, allowing him to reveal his authentic identity while also contributing to a plural collective memory. The show pays homage to those who question their place in society, while recognising their capacity for powerful transformation.
The evening begins with an Apรฉro-Danse at 19:15, and is followed by a meet-the-artists exchange after the performance. The show is presented as part of CAM en tournรฉe at the Grande Salle of Salle Pauline-Julien.
