The near-100-year-old conductor Herbert Blomstedt returns to the DR Symfoniorkestret โ an orchestra he first conducted in 1955 โ for two performances pairing Bruckner and Haydn in Koncertsalen.
Bruckner regarded his Symphony No. 6 as his boldest work: shorter, brighter and more rhythmically lively than its sibling symphonies, it has been called his Cinderella symphony. Its legendary Gothic architecture takes on a quality of particular elegance โ serene, tender, elevated and noble under Blomstedt's direction.
The programme opens with Haydn's Symphony No. 104 'London', composed during the composer's triumphant visits to the English capital in the 1790s. Brimming with charisma, wit and immediacy, it was crafted with the simple intention of bringing pleasure and delight to its audiences.
Tickets are available separately for each of the two performances on 15 and 16 April 2027.
