After more than four decades as a fixture of Danish musical life โ from early appearances on children's television to a wide-ranging career as a singer-songwriter and musician โ Alberte Winding brings her songs into a full symphonic context alongside Danmarks Underholdningsorkester.
The concerts offer familiar classics as well as newer material, all given new depth through arrangements for strings and wind. Winding has long imagined her songs in an orchestral setting: 'The old songs take on a new depth, and the new ones have in a way always been conceived with this direction in mind,' she says.
John Frandsen, director of Danmarks Underholdningsorkester, highlights Winding's work as possessing a distinctive poetry and intimacy that many Danes hold close. Winding herself hopes audiences will leave the hall 'with a feeling of light and warmth.'
