她因将个人心理健康经历融入突破边界的喜剧而备受尊敬，是《纽约时报》畅销回忆录《Sure, I'll Join Your Cult》的作者，也是四部小时长喜剧特辑的主演：《Local Act》、《Weakness is the Brand》、《Old Baby》和《Maria Bamford: the special, special, special!》。
Bamford在配音工作中多产，参与过《Big Mouth》、《Human Resources》、《HouseBroken》、《Teenage Euthanasia》、《Bob's Burgers》、《Bojack Horseman》、《Adventure Time》、《Legend of Korra》以及获艾美奖的PBS剧集《Word Girl》等众多作品。在荧幕上，她在Netflix的《发展受阻》中饰演DeBrie Bardeaux，并在《Fresh off the Boat》、《Everything's Gonna Be Okay》和《Flatbush Misdemeanors》中有常出演。
