Visite guidée du Château des Évêques, du Parc, de l'Église et du Village Ancien

Departures for guided tours leave from the red gates of the castle on both Saturday and Sunday at 14:30, 15:30, and 16:30. On Sunday, a special visit for children aged 6 and over (accompanied by an adult) is offered at 15:00.

The Bishops' Castle was constructed in the 18th century on the site of an earlier feudal castle, set within a park of plane trees and magnolias. It served as the residence of the bishops of Montpellier, most notably Joachim Colbert de Croissy, nephew of the great Colbert. The grounds include ponds, a large fishpond, a French formal garden, and an orangery.

The highlight of the interior is the music room "à l'italienne", built in the second half of the 18th century and classified as a historical monument. Its walls are decorated with fine gypseries depicting musical instruments, cherubs, hunting trophies and other motifs fashionable under Louis XV.

The castle is now owned by the municipality and houses the Hofer-Bury museum and the Jean de la Fontaine media library, which occupies the former kitchen, dining room and chapel spaces — whose original layouts remain visible today.

Entry is free and no reservation is required. Open to all.
