Colombie - Julie Corbeil

Filmmaker Julie Corbeil turns her camera on Colombia, a country long associated with political instability that is now redefining its identity and its place in the world. Inspired by exchanges with members of the Colombian community in Quebec, the film asks what Colombia looks like today.

The journey spans Bogotá, the coffee-growing regions, the Andes and the creative neighbourhoods of Medellín. Audiences meet artists, entrepreneurs, coffee and cacao growers, young activists and everyday citizens who have chosen to participate in their country's transformation.

Through these voices emerges a vibrant, colourful, festive Colombia proud of its cultural heritage and natural wealth. The film is an invitation to move beyond clichés and to celebrate the energy and resilience of its people.

Julie Corbeil is a Quebec filmmaker, journalist and communications teacher with nearly 20 years of documentary work focused on human encounters and social issues. She has made films for Radio-Canada and Télé-Québec, and has previously presented Japan, Guatemala, Mexico and Copenhagen at the Grands Explorateurs series.
