Visita Guiada del Hotel Haguenot

The Hôtel Haguenot, known as a Montpellier "folie" – a pleasure house originally located outside the city walls – was built between 1751 and 1760 by Jean-Antoine Giral, who later designed the Royal Promenade du Peyrou. It was commissioned by Henri Haguenot, dean of the faculty of medicine of Montpellier.

The mansion is set within a terraced garden planted with trees and enlivened by fountains, and opens generously to the outside through numerous doors.

Its interior decoration, created by Roubieu – an artist from the region who also worked at the Palace of Versailles – consists of elaborate gypseries depicting scenes of rural life.

Guided tours take place on Sunday 20 September 2026 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. as part of the European Heritage Days.
