Songs We Carry is the duo of British singer and multi-instrumentalist Ana Silvera and Palestinian composer, oud virtuoso and singer Saied Silbak. Their music weaves together Ladino songs — the language of Sephardic Jewish communities — with maqams drawn from Arabic musical tradition.
For this Winter Jazz performance, the duo expands into a quartet joined by Jasper Høiby and Haneen Kiwan, giving the project a fuller, more powerful sound.
The project carries deep personal meaning for Ana Silvera, whose family history as Jewish refugees from the Spanish Inquisition brought them to Aleppo in the 18th century. The songs she performs in Ladino are listed by UNESCO as part of an endangered linguistic heritage, many having nearly disappeared from living memory.
The concert takes place at The Queen's Hall within The Black Diamond, Copenhagen, on Tuesday 23 February 2027 at 19:30 (approximately 2 hours). Tickets are available via the link below.
