Le buffet is a new work by bassist and composer Hugo Blouin, built around the convivial spirit of sharing a meal and conversation among friends. Songs unfold like courses at a table, weaving together family recipes, reflections on art, personal anecdotes, and childhood memories.
The raw material for each composition was drawn from real interviews, with stories sampled and transcribed to form the foundation of the music — a process that gives the work an intimate, documentary quality.
The concert is performed by an all-star ensemble: John Hollenbeck on drums, Eugénie Jobin on vocals, Aurélien Tomasi on winds, and Marianne Trudel on piano.
The concert is presented at La Chapelle Scènes Contemporaines as part of Québec musiques parallèles 2026.
