On 14 January 2027, the DR Symphony Orchestra takes the stage at DR Koncerthuset's Koncertsalen under the baton of Viennese guest conductor Manfred Honeck for an evening centred on Beethoven's monumental Symphony No. 3 ('Eroica'). The concert marks the 200th anniversary of Beethoven's death, celebrated across Europe in 2027.
Alongside the Eroica, the programme includes a newly commissioned tribute by Estonian composer Jüri Reinvere, inspired by one of the last passages Beethoven wrote in his notebook before his death in 1827.
Canadian pianist Bruce Liu makes his long-awaited debut with the DR Symphony Orchestra, performing Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini — a work blending virtuosic brilliance with romantic lyricism. Liu is acclaimed for his combination of technical precision and deep emotional insight, and has appeared with many of the world's leading orchestras.
Manfred Honeck is a highly valued guest conductor of the DR Symphony Orchestra and returns to Copenhagen for this special occasion.
