Conductor Adam Hickox, described as the most promising young British conductor of his generation, leads the DR Symfoniorkestret in a concert that showcases both the ensemble's collective power and the virtuosity of its individual musicians.
The programme centres on Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2, performed by German pianist Martin Helmchen. The concerto is celebrated for its ability to shift between the intimacy of chamber music and the grandeur of a symphony, combining dreamy dialogue with sweeping drama.
Also on the programme is Lutosławski's Concerto for Orchestra — a technically demanding and exuberant work that, despite celebrating orchestral virtuosity, was also a defiant statement by the composer during the Soviet era in Poland.
The two performances take place on 1 and 2 October 2026 in the Koncertsalen at DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen.
