The Berliner Philharmoniker ranks among the world's foremost orchestras, and this guest appearance at DR Koncerthuset offers a rare chance to experience the celebrated ensemble under their chief conductor Kirill Petrenko alongside Norwegian piano star Leif Ove Andsnes.
The programme opens with Grieg's Piano Concerto, his only solo concerto, in which the composer sought to blend the Romantic tradition with Norwegian folk song and the spirit of vast, open landscapes. Andsnes, described by the New York Times as possessing "majestic elegance, power and insight", is the soloist.
Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 (the 'Pastoral') completes the evening — a work that carries its listeners into nature, evoking thunderstorms, shepherd songs and the sublime grandeur of the outdoors.
Kirill Petrenko is the recipient of the Léonie Sonning Music Prize 2026.
