Folkeklubben & Danmarks Underholdningsorkester

After several years away from the stage, Danish folk-rock trio Folkeklubben return to live performance with a series of concerts at Koncertsalen in DR Koncerthuset, joined by the full ensemble of Danmarks Underholdningsorkester. The collaboration promises a symphonic reimagining of the band's beloved catalogue, with strings, brass and electric guitars combining in what artistic director John Frandsen describes as a meeting of intellectual sharpness and broad popular appeal.

Folkeklubben — comprising Kjartan Arngrim, Rasmus Jusjong and Rasmus Dall — have been a fixture of Danish music for 15 years, with six albums to their name including the critically praised Mere end en klub (2023). Their songs have charted on P3 and Dansktoppen, appeared in Højskolesangbogen and reached wide audiences through X Factor and large outdoor festivals, with hits including 'Fedterøv' and 'Sort Tulipan'.

Danmarks Underholdningsorkester, which has previously collaborated with some of Denmark's most prominent pop and rock artists, will be conducted by David Riddell — longstanding artistic director of Randers Kammerensemble and Aarhus Sommeropera, who has previously led Folkeklubben in a symphonic context with Odense Symfoniorkester.

The three performances — 31 October (20:30), 1 November (16:00) and 2 November (20:00) — each take place in Koncertsalen at DR Koncerthuset. Audiences can expect a distinctive concert format in which the band's songs gain new orchestral dimensions through the interplay of the full symphony ensemble.
