Alice and Sacha are working on a new creation and joyfully questioning their own singularity and perhaps their radicalism. They stumble on a documentary about the unclassifiable filmmakers Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet — whom they did not know, and whom ultimately almost no one knows. So what? They embody them and enter into dialogue with them.
Here, non-conformist art and Marxism are discussed as if arguing over the cooking time of a gratin. A very 'personal' cinema is spoken about onstage with relish. They bicker about a piece of film or a detail no one will notice. The audience is invited to resist the easy, and it is delicious.
