Declan Welsh and The Decadent West are a Scottish indie-rock band with post-punk influences, known for their energetic, rhythm-driven sound featuring sharp guitars, danceable basslines and politically and socially conscious lyrics. They have been compared to Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, Franz Ferdinand and Idles.
The band is fronted by Declan Welsh with Ben Corlett on bass, alongside a rotating cast of friends and musicians. They have built a strong reputation for electrifying live shows, catchy hooks and lyrics that engage directly with contemporary issues, drawing audiences close to the stage and leaving a lasting impression.
Together they have released four EPs and two albums to widespread critical praise, working with Grammy- and award-winning producers, and have been nominated for Scottish Album of the Year. Their debut album has surpassed millions of streams and received airplay on Radio 1, Radio X and Radio Scotland.
The Copenhagen show is part of their European tour and coincides with the release of their third album Explicit Agitation, due out in September 2026. Recorded with Chris Marshall, the album addresses themes ranging from political tensions to personal subjects such as love, loneliness and faith, and was written with a live audience in mind.
