In the first instalment of a six-concert cycle, Quatuor Ébène brings Beethoven's String Quartets Nos. 4, 5 and 12 to the Queen's Hall at The Black Diamond. The French quartet, founded in 1999 at the conservatoire in Boulogne-Billancourt, is undertaking a complete survey of Beethoven's 16 string quartets across the series.
Quatuor Ébène has performed at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including Wigmore Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, Philharmonie de Paris and Alte Oper in Frankfurt. The quartet views the string quartet as a democratic musical form, in which each voice contributes individually while the ensemble as a whole emerges through attentiveness and shared interplay.
