Finnish conductor Pietari Inkinen returns to DR Koncerthuset to lead the DR Symfoniorkestret through a selection of highlights from Wagner's Siegfried and Götterdämmerung — the culminating operas of the monumental Ring cycle. Inkinen previously conducted the complete Ring at Bayreuth to great acclaim, and made a memorable impression with the orchestra when he stepped in at short notice to conduct Mahler's Symphony No. 3 in 2024.
The programme traces Siegfried's arc from rebellious youth through transformative love and heroism, and follows Brünnhilde as she attempts to set things right. Audiences can expect some of the Ring's most atmospheric and dramatically powerful orchestral writing — by turns dark and luminous, brooding and electrifying.
Joining the orchestra are two singers closely associated with the Bayreuth Festival: Danish tenor Magnus Vigilius and British soprano Catherine Foster. Both are well-known interpreters of Wagnerian repertoire on the international stage.
