Norway's legendary jazz-metal outfit Shining comes to Spillestedet Stengade on November 3, 2026, in support of a new album, joined by support act Tungsind.
Shining was founded in 1999 and led by multi-instrumentalist Jรธrgen Munkeby, who has collaborated with a remarkable range of artists including ex-Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman, Emperor, Epica, and Danish big band Blood Sweat Drum 'n' Bass. The band began as an acoustic jazz ensemble and transformed over the years into an extreme metal force.
Their landmark 2010 album Blackjazz established them as a major presence in the metal world, blending aggressive riffs, saxophone, and progressive ideas. Subsequent albums including One One One (2013), International Blackjazz Society (2015), and Animal (2018) continued to push boundaries and expand their audience.
The band recently performed Blackjazz anniversary shows at major festivals worldwide, including a headline appearance in front of 15,000 fans at Hellfest in 2024. Their new material is expected to revisit the saxophone-driven Blackjazz sound.
