Dutch composer and sound artist LudoWic invites audiences into a sensory world at Studie 2, where time, memory and presence are explored through analogue instruments, rare electronic soundscapes and sound created in real time.
Matheus Lodewijk (born 1973), known professionally as LudoWic, operates at the intersection of experimental electronic music, forgotten instruments and spatial sound. His distinctive sonic world centres on ageing synthesizers, tape machines, resonator speakers and rare electronic instruments, where instability and unpredictability become part of the creative process. The music balances fragile intimacy with overwhelming physical presence, as nostalgic tonal surfaces meet a cinematic sense of space and movement.
His latest work, 'Nunc Stans', was created during four months of near-total isolation and explores transience, memory and the experience of time itself. The album also marks a further evolution of LudoWic's sound, with instruments such as the Trautonium and Ondes Martenot playing a central role.
In his live performances, LudoWic surrounds himself with analogue instruments, cables, resonator speakers and tape echoes, generating and shaping sound in real time so that audiences witness not only the music but also the movements, imperfections and interactions that form it in the moment.
