Lagos Thugs are a 10-piece afrobeat orchestra from Lagos, Nigeria, founded in 2020. Rooted in the tradition of Fela Kuti, the band weaves hypnotic polyrhythms, warm horn arrangements, improvisation and call-and-response into long, life-affirming tracks that blur the boundary between stage and dancefloor.
In 2024, the band released their critically acclaimed debut album CHAOS, which cemented their place on the contemporary afrobeat scene. Their music tackles themes of power, injustice, freedom and African identity, upholding afrobeat's historic role as both protest music and collective expression.
Lagos Thugs have shared stages with artists such as Ezra Collective, Seun Kuti, Made Kuti, Egypt 80 and Antibalas. In 2026 they embark on an extensive tour across Africa and Europe, with a stop at ALICE in Copenhagen.
