Jumelles en choeur : Bachchor Heidelberg x Choeur Symphonique Montpellier

Two sister choral ensembles — Bachchor Heidelberg and Choeur Symphonique Montpellier — join forces for a grand anniversary concert at Église Sainte-Thérèse in Montpellier on Saturday 10 October 2026 at 20:30, bringing together approximately one hundred French and German choralists on one stage.

The programme celebrates both nations through carefully chosen repertoire: Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel's Lobgesang represents Germany, Francis Poulenc's Gloria represents France, and Antonín Dvořák's Te Deum serves as the evening's coup de coeur, the work that sparked the collaboration.

The concert is conducted by Michel Piquemal, with soprano Anaïs Constans, bass-baritone Jiwon Song, and pianist Sacha Stefanovic as soloists.

Bachchor Heidelberg is the oldest continuously active Bachchor in Germany, founded by Philipp Wolfrum in 1885 to mark the 200th anniversary of Johann Sebastian Bach's birth. Since 2025 the ensemble has been directed by Thomas Gropper.

Choeur Symphonique de Montpellier was founded in 2006 on the initiative of René Koering, then director of the Opéra et Orchestre National de Montpellier, and conductor Hervé Niquet. This concert also celebrates the choir's twentieth anniversary and responds to an invitation extended by the Bachchor during its October 2024 concert in Heidelberg.

Tickets are available via HelloAsso. The event is part of the Maison de Heidelberg 2026 programme.
