Finnish conductor Pietari Inkinen, acclaimed for his complete traversal of Wagner's Ring cycle at Bayreuth, leads DR Symfoniorkestret through a selection of compelling moments from that monumental work. Joining him are Danish tenor Magnus Vigilius and British soprano Catherine Foster, both familiar names on the Bayreuth stage.
The programme draws from 'Siegfried' and 'Gรถtterdรคmmerung' โ the culminating operas of Wagner's 'Der Ring des Nibelungen' โ following Siegfried's arc from rebellious youth through transformative love and heroism, with Brรผnnhilde gathering up the pieces in his wake. The selection showcases some of the Ring's most gripping and atmospherically charged orchestral writing: dark and dense in places, radiant and electrifying in others.
Inkinen previously delighted audiences at DR Symfoniorkestret when he stepped in at short notice to conduct Mahler's Symphony No. 3 in 2024. This concert sees him return with a composer even closer to his heart, promising a concert of enormous dramatic scope and musical power.
