On the occasion of the European Heritage Days 2026, the Montpellier Mรฉditerranรฉe Mรฉtropole Water Authority opens the doors of the Maera wastewater treatment plant in Lattes for a special guided tour.
Visitors will explore the inner workings of this major public infrastructure, which is currently undergoing a large-scale modernisation programme. The tour explains the various stages of the water cycle and how urban wastewater from the metropolis is treated.
The visit also highlights the plant's role in producing biogas and renewable energy, illustrating how essential infrastructure can contribute to environmental sustainability.
This free tour lasts one hour and is part of the annual European Heritage Days programme.
