Glassworks - Philip Glass Ensemble

The Philip Glass Ensemble visits Copenhagen to perform 'Glassworks' (1982), one of the composer's most beloved and accessible works, at the grand Konservatoriets Koncertsal โ€” housed in the former Radiohuset on Rosenรธrns Allรฉ. The concert is presented by ALICE.

Please note that Philip Glass himself will not be performing due to his advanced age. However, the ensemble โ€” under the long-standing direction of conductor Michael Riesman โ€” carries on with rare authenticity and precision, keeping the connection to the original work intact.

Founded in New York in 1968, the Philip Glass Ensemble served as the living laboratory for Glass's pioneering minimalist compositions, from 'Music in Twelve Parts' to the 'Koyaanisqatsi' trilogy. Their characteristic blend of organs, winds and voices has defined and refined the pulsating language of minimalism for decades.

'Glassworks' opens an meditative space through its repetitive structures, gradual shifts and clear sonic surfaces โ€” an opportunity to step inside a piece of living music history in one of Copenhagen's most storied concert halls.
