Romeo Castellucci's 'Faust. Fait, non dit' offers a radical rereading of the Faust myth. Rather than adapting Goethe literally, the work confronts Faust before his pact with Mephistopheles — plunging him into the void, a crisis of language and the severing of words from things.
Through a stage language built on images, silence, bodies, raw matter and an original score by Scott Gibbons, Castellucci transforms the theatrical space into a mental landscape traversed by visions. The result is a sensory meditation on knowledge, the sacred and representation itself.
A leading figure of contemporary international theatre, Castellucci has spent decades crafting work at the intersection of visual arts, philosophy, music and performance. This production is described as one of rare plastic and emotional intensity, in which theatre becomes a place of experience as much as of thought.
Performances take place on 9 and 10 October 2026 at 20:00 at Domaine d'O, Montpellier, as part of the Maison de Heidelberg 2026 programme.
