Dan Mangan brings his album Natural Light to the Amphithéâtre stage at Le Gesù in Montreal. The record was made unexpectedly in six days by four close friends in a cabin by a lake, and it goes back to the classic foundations of folk music with a streak of political resistance.
The album plays as a cohesive, album-centred piece, with songs linked by precise transitions and overlapping interludes. Its lyrics reflect on family and on a society facing an existential crisis.
Mangan is a two-time JUNO Award winner and three-time Polaris Music Prize nominee based in Vancouver. He has played Glastonbury and Jimmy Kimmel Live, sold out Massey Hall, and composed soundtracks for film and television. In 2017 he co-founded Side Door, a community platform connecting artists with alternative performance venues.
