Cleo Reed โ also known as Ella Josephine Julia Moore โ comes to ALICE in Copenhagen on 6 October 2026, performing music from her ambitious double album CUNTRY (2025). Growing up in New York and Washington D.C., she developed a wide-ranging musical background spanning jazz and classical music at the Harlem School of the Arts, punk with New York band Pretty Sick, and sound engineering and design at Berklee College of Music.
CUNTRY was highlighted by Pitchfork and NPR Music as one of the most important releases of 2025. Its first half is rooted in American roots music โ blues, soul, and country โ while the second half opens into electronic and dystopian soundscapes, mirroring the tension between her New York upbringing and her family's Southern roots. Themes of labour, physicality, identity, and social contradiction run throughout.
Cleo Reed is known as an exceptional live performer who combines musical virtuosity, performative presence, and emotional intimacy to create an intensely close encounter with her audience.
