Sara Parkman โ violinist, singer and composer โ performs at DR Koncerthuset's Koncertsalen in support of her fourth album, 'Aster, atlas'. Since her debut in 2016, Parkman has consistently pushed the boundaries of folk music, weaving Scandinavian tradition with future-facing sounds, and earning accolades including a Swedish Grammis, DN's Cultural Prize and the Ulla Billquist Stipend.
The new album explores themes of mystery, labour and the act of caring for living things, moving through grief, beauty, growth and decay, drawing imagery from a secret garden. Musically it blends the calling tones of Nordic folk with early church choral traditions and pulsating digital elements.
The guiding philosophy of the album โ ora et labora (pray and work) โ offers consolation, hope and an invitation to keep faith in the collective, particularly resonant in demanding times. The concert marks new steps in Parkman's artistic development, shifting from the powerful and majestic toward the more inward and contemplative.
