Every Monday evening, dancer-choreographer Siaka COULIBALY invites participants to immerse themselves in Mandingue dances, a rich heritage of West Africa carried by the insistent rhythms of the doum and djembé, played live by Salimata Diabaté and Diakalya Diabaté.
These dances are far more than an art form — they function as a universal language that narrates and celebrates everyday life and its milestones, and are said to carry a therapeutic dimension that helps release energy and tension.
Siaka Coulibaly is a dancer-choreographer based in Montpellier. Originally trained in Burkina Faso, he pursued the Yeleen Don programme under Salia Sanou and Saïdou Boro at La Termitère in Ouagadougou, and went on to train at the École des Sables in Senegal and in Togo and Benin alongside figures such as Germaine Acogny, Alesandra Seutin, Elsa Wolliaston, Irène Tassambédo and Ladji Koné. In 2022 he joined Anne-Marie Porras's professional programme at Epsedanse in Montpellier.
