Lido Pimienta, a GRAMMY-nominated singer, composer and performer with more than 15 years on stage, takes over ALICE for an evening that mixes Afro-Caribbean traditions, Colombian rhythms, electronic impulses and sweeping classical arrangements.
Born in Barranquilla on Colombia's Caribbean coast, she broke through with the 2017 album La Papessa, which won the Polaris Music Prize, and followed it with Miss Colombia (2020). She also composed Lux Aeterna for the New York City Ballet, becoming the first woman of colour to compose for the company.
Her new album Caribenya is due out in July and gathers lush orchestration, ambient textures, pop sensibility and Caribbean rhythms. Few tickets are left.
