Aanikoobijigan [Ahne/Urgroßeltern/Ururenkel] (Abschlussfilm)

Directed by Adam Khalil and Zack Khalil, this 2026 USA/Denmark co-production (1h20) screens in original version with no language restriction indicated, serving as the closing film of the International First Peoples Festival (IFPF) 2026.

Eleven Indigenous restitution specialists from MACPRA (Michigan Anishinaabek Cultural Preservation & Repatriation Alliance) share their work repatriating and reburying ancestral remains currently held by museums and archives. The film examines the legal frameworks around repatriation and the deeply personal journeys of those who carry out this vital cultural work.

This is the closing film of the International First Peoples Festival (IFPF) 2026 at Cinéma du Musée.
